Summer Activities in Massachusetts

Wondering what there is to do in Massachusetts for the summer?  There are so many summer activities that you can enjoy, as a couple or as a family!

Summer Activities by the Coast

When you want to catch a few waves, head to Cape Cod or take a ferry to the offshore islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.  Let the sun shine down on you as you visit the beautiful beaches or enjoy one of Massachusetts’ greatest summer activities: whale watching.  Plymouth is known for whale-watching tours – especially Captain John Whale Watching & Fishing Tours – and wonderful cruises.

Go North of Boston to visit art galleries, go shopping and check out the famous witch museum in Salem.

Summer Activities in the Country

Massachusetts boasts an abundance of beautiful towns, farms, lakes and parks that provide the perfect setting for hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing and taking scenic walks.

If you head to Western Massachusetts, you should check out the annual Tanglewood music festival, visit the Norman Rockwell Museum, or plan a relaxing and uplifting retreat at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health.

If you’re planning summer activities for the kids, take them to Southwick’s Zoo in Mendon, MA for an education – and very fun! – day out.  Parlee Farms in Tyngsboro has an animal petting zoo as well as a fresh produce stand and many varieties of strawberries ripe for the picking.

The cities of Massachusetts are often the place to go for romantic getaways and family-fun activities, as they offer a variety of museums, hotels, shopping opportunities and restaurant dining.

The New England Aquarium and the Boston Museum of Science are both great places to take the whole family this summer.  And why not catch a Red Sox game while you’re out that way?
